Do I need my doubles partner to train with me?
Not for every session — the long run, quality run, and strength sessions you can do alone. But the Race-Like HYROX session is best done with your partner so you can practice station switching and build your shared rhythm.
We have different fitness levels — is this a problem?
Common in doubles pairs. The program is scalable — each athlete can adjust intensity to their own level on the running sessions. For station work, splitting reps means a stronger athlete can naturally take more of the harder stations.
We've never done HYROX before — is this suitable?
Yes. The program starts with a 4-week build-up phase at sub-race weights with a strong focus on technique and learning the doubles format. You don't need prior HYROX experience.
What equipment do we need?
Access to a gym with a SkiErg, rowing machine, sled, kettlebells, sandbag, and wall ball. Most CrossFit gyms and HYROX-affiliated gyms have everything. Running sessions can be done outdoors or on a treadmill.
