Late November in Poznan means temperatures between -2°C and 8°C (28–46°F). The expo halls are heated, but pack warm layers for walking between your hotel and the venue.

The Venue: MTP Poznan Expo

MTP Poznan Expo is one of the largest exhibition centres in Central Europe — 150,000 sqm across 13 halls. It sits right in the city centre, a 5-minute walk from the main train station (Poznan Glowny) and 15 minutes on foot from the Old Market Square.

What's nearby:

  • Poznan Glowny (Main Station) — 5-minute walk. Trains to the airport, Warsaw, Berlin, and Krakow
  • Stary Browar — 10-minute walk. Shopping centre with restaurants, cafes, and a cinema
  • Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) — 15-minute walk. Restaurants, bars, and the famous mechanical goats

Where to Stay

Poznan is compact and affordable — one of the cheapest HYROX destinations in Europe. A 4-star hotel with a spa next to the venue costs less than a basic room in London or Paris. Every hotel below is within walking distance of the expo halls, so you won't need transport on race day.

We've picked four hotels that work well for a HYROX race weekend — close to the venue, well-reviewed, and with the kind of facilities you actually want after a race (spas, saunas, good breakfast). Prices are based on November rates, which are significantly lower than peak season.

Essential Poznan Tips

Currency. Polish Zloty (PLN). 1 USD ≈ 3.63 PLN, 1 EUR ≈ 4.25 PLN. Poland is not in the eurozone.

Cash vs card. Cards accepted almost everywhere. Contactless works widely. Keep 50–100 PLN cash for milk bars or market stalls.

Tipping. 10% at restaurants if service was good. Rounding up for taxis is common. Not obligatory.

Language. English widely spoken in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas. Dziekuje (jen-KOO-yeh) means "thank you" — use it.

Weather in November. Highs 2–8°C (36–46°F), lows around -2°C (28°F). About 8 hours of daylight. Bring warm layers, a winter jacket, gloves, and waterproof shoes.

Safety. Poznan is very safe. Standard precautions apply.

What to See

  • Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) — one of Europe's largest market squares. At noon, two mechanical goats emerge from the Town Hall clock and butt heads 12 times — a tradition since 1551
  • Poznan Town Hall — Renaissance masterpiece and one of the most photographed buildings in Poland
  • St. Martin's Croissant Museum — interactive museum where you learn about and bake Poznan's famous croissant. You eat the results
  • Cathedral Island (Ostrow Tumski) — the oldest cathedral in Poland (10th century). Climb the tower for panoramic views
  • Porta Posnania — award-winning interactive multimedia museum about the history of Cathedral Island
  • Malta Lake — walking and cycling paths, a ski slope, and an outdoor thermal spa. Good for recovery
